The Faeroes is a group of 21 larger islands situated in the Atlantic Ocean 430 km southwest of Iceland, 600 km west of Norway and 400 km north of Scotland. The capital is Torshavn with more than 14.000 inhabitants.

The climate is very maritime. The average temperature in January is +4 degrees and in July +11 degrees. The number of rain days per year is over 200 and fog is very normal.
